Honoring the Loss of Michael J. Castle, Esteemed Trustee and Philanthropist

Jerry Stadtmueller, President of the JEK Foundation, released the following statement today regarding the death of JEK Trustee, Michael J. Castle.

I am very sorry to tell you that Mike Castle, a beloved trustee of the JEK Foundation and friend to so many in the Fox Valley and beyond, died peacefully and unexpectedly yesterday at his Oshkosh residence. He was 76.

Mike was a friend of mine for decades and was an obvious choice to serve as a trustee of JEK. He was a life-long resident of Oshkosh and was passionate about making our community better for all its residents. He was especially fond of the Paine Art Center and Gardens and the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, having served as a trustee and director for many years for both organizations. In addition, he was an advocate for many other organizations. He was especially supportive of organizations that assist those dealing with addiction, local history, education, culture, basic needs, law enforcement and youth.

Mike was charming and had a razor-sharp sense of humor. And while he tried to portray a tough guy image, he was the softest touch when it came to helping others. He consistently put those in need first.

We are heartbroken and will miss him greatly but know that JEK will continue with his spirit guiding us along the way.
